Terms of Service

By accessing or using BuilderExpert AI ("the Service") at builderexpert.ai you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

BuilderExpert AI generates itemised construction estimates using AI. The Service is provided as a tool to help builders and contractors prepare quotes. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

Every estimate generated by the Service is a guide only. It is not a binding quote, professional survey, or endorsement of price. You are fully responsible for the accuracy of the final pricing you present to your clients.

Estimates are produced by AI based on the information you enter and benchmark construction pricing data. Real prices always vary — by your location, site conditions, material availability, chosen suppliers and trades, season, regulatory requirements, and many other factors outside our control or knowledge. You know your own market better than any AI model; the Service is a starting point, not a final answer.

The Service includes unlimited AI chat refinement and direct line-item editing on every quote. These tools give you full control to adjust any rate, quantity, material, scope item, profit margin or VAT treatment before issuing. It is your responsibility to use them before presenting a quote to a client.

Before issuing any quote to a client you must:

• Review every line item, quantity and rate.
• Verify against your own supplier prices and current market rates.
• Adjust scope to match the specific site conditions and your professional judgement.
• Apply the profit margin, VAT treatment and contingencies appropriate to your business and the job.

BuilderExpert AI does not provide professional estimating advice, legal advice, tax advice, or structural advice. We accept no liability whatsoever for losses, mispricing, contractual disputes, client complaints, cost overruns, tax errors, or any other harm arising from estimates you have generated, edited, shared, relied on, or issued to a third party.

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at info@builderexpert.uk if you suspect unauthorised access.

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for illegal purposes or to defraud customers
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the Service
• Submit malicious content, spam, or attempt to overload the system
• Use bots or automated tools to bypass rate limits
• Resell or redistribute access to the Service without permission
• Use the Service to generate content that is defamatory, obscene, or unlawful

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

The Service uses Anthropic's Claude AI to generate quote text. You retain ownership of the inputs you provide and the resulting quote outputs. You grant us a limited licence to process your inputs as needed to operate the Service.

Subscription tiers (prices excluding VAT; 20% UK VAT is added at checkout for all customers regardless of location):

• Starter — £39/month or £390/year, 5 AI quotes/month
• Professional — £89/month or £890/year, 15 AI quotes/month
• Business — £179/month or £1,790/year, 40 AI quotes/month

30-day free trial (Starter only). One trial per customer — we identify customers by a one-way hash of their email address and the unique fingerprint of their payment card (provided by Stripe; we never see card numbers). Customers who have already had a trial will be billed from day 1 if they re-subscribe. A valid payment method must be entered at sign-up to start the trial; you will not be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel any time before then to avoid being charged.

Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, whichever you chose) until cancelled. The renewal charge is taken from your saved payment method on the renewal date.

Cancellation. You can cancel any time from your account page → Manage Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until that date and are not billed further. There are no early-termination fees.

Refunds. By UK consumer law, the right to a 14-day cooling-off cancellation does not apply to digital services where you have explicitly consented to immediate access (which you do by clicking Subscribe). Outside that, refunds are at our discretion — contact info@builderexpert.uk if you believe a refund is appropriate (e.g. service outage, wrongful charge).

Pricing changes.We may update pricing with at least 30 days' notice via email and a notice on the site. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

You may close your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that have been inactive for extended periods. On termination your data will be deleted within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or business losses.

We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be notified by email or via a notice on the site. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
